This review is made up of two parts. The first part is about the Samaya Ayurveda Vata Cleanser, how to use it, what it feels like, the ingredients, packaging and benefits.
The second part is about Ayurveda, doshas, and an interview with Abida – the Founder of Samaya.
Invest in a good quality facial cleanser and an organic natural skincare regime and your skin will love you! It’ll help it to stay looking nourished and balanced.
Samaya Ayurveda’s team kindly gifted me this to review. There’s three cleansers, one for each dosha. My dosha is Vata so I’m reviewing the Vata cleanser.
What do I think? My skin loves it – it’s silky, smooth, radiant and uplifted. In fact, I’ve been using this cleanser since 2018. (this blog post has recently been updated since the original)
Why Cleanse the Skin?
Generally in life what you put in, you’ll get out. Same goes for the skin and I’m a firm believer in this quote:
Invest in your skin. It’s going to represent you for a long time
Linden Tyler
The skin is our largest organ in the body so feed it with goodness and non-toxic products, food, chemicals and synthetic ingredients – it’s a massively beneficial things to do.
Facial cleansing is just one part of caring for skin and every day cleansing is absolutely non-negotiable for me! (Just like a glass of water first thing in the morning is)
Fun fact #1: did you know skin weighs around 10,000 grams?
Fun Fact #2: did you also know part of the word cleanser is ‘clean’? So the takeout here is………… clean to gleam! Not just our kitchens or homes.
I cleanse every day, just like I would brush my teeth everyday – no matter what the scenario. Even after a long day or night when all I want to do is roll straight into a comfy bed, I will do my cleansing ritual (with no use of any wipes whatsoever I might add!) to remove all my eye makeup, tinted moisturiser and lippy so that it’s not clogging up my pores overnight.
Why? Beccause our skin repairs overnight. Having products left overnight on the skin won’t help it repair. You’re welcome! A quick cleanse with a muslin cloth will help skin breathe, recover and repair while sleeping.
As a free-from specialist with a synthetic fragrance allergy, it’s my job to thoroughly check the ingredients of every skincare product I use before trying or buying.
I patch test every beauty product and I’ve become pretty devoted to finding clean, balanced, green, pure, non-toxic skincare with high-quality natural ingredients.
If my skin looks dry dull or dehydated or if I generally feel a bit meh…then I know my body (and mind) could be out of balance. This is where an ayurvedic approach can be beneficial.
Samaya Ayurveda’s Hydrating Cleanser
So when Samaya’s Ayurveda’s Hydrating Cleanser came into my life, it was definitely something to help me achieve skincare balance.
When I met the Abida, the founder of this amazing award winning skincare range at the CEW where I am a member (Cosmetic Executive Women) Abida knew my dosha type straight away by asking just one question!
Abida kindly gifted me a sample of the Vata Hydrating Cleanser, Vata Anti-Ageing Treatment Oil Serum oil and Vata Anti-Ageing Cream.
When used as a regime, they gave my skin extraordinary results – clearer, more even, softer and instantly radiant and glowing skin. The Samaya Treatment oil is incredible. (Updated: I’ve since been buying this too).
So you can imagine I was even more delighted when Abida’s team kindly sent me the full sized Samaya Ayurveda Vata Hydrating Cleanser to thoroughly test and review.
Benefits using the Samaya Ayurveda Vata Cleanser
- Clearer Skin: When I used the Hydrating Cleanser Vata for the first time I could see my skin looked clearer, smoother and more even in tone, looked more radiant and felt incredibly smooth.
- Subtle rose: the Ayurvedic aromas and rose oil relaxed me straight away. The cleanser has a very subtle rose flower extract. Having only ever used non-fragranced products I was wary of trying anything with even the slightest bit of smell but the rose oil was so natural, very light, hardly noticable and my skin actually loved it.
- Uplifting and soothing and rose is anti-ageing too. Having used it for 10 days I noticed my sleep had been better too. This is from the Ashwagandha ingredient which helps allievate stress.
- Silky smooth Texture: When applying, it feels silky and luxurious in texture. You only need a bit. 1 pump.
It’s a lightweight creamy lotion – as opposed to a heavy cream or balm, absorbs into my skin really well.
What it feels like using the Vata Hydrating Cleanser
- It felt comforting and luxurious to massage into my face using circular motions around the forehead and cheeks and in upwardly direction, towards the lymph glands. To rinse off, I used a damp muslin cloth in warm water.
- I can honestly say that my skin literally looked more radiant and glowing instantly and it felt like the most divine uplifting experience. It’s kind of like a skin indulgence and a special nightly treat I look forward to. Whilst it can be used morning and night, I prefer just the evening.
- As someone who is really sensitive to everything, this has been absolutely fine on my skin with no irritation or redness whatsoever. Big bonus and so thankful I’ve found this for my organic, natural, clean and green beauty shelf.
- What makes this product so unique is the ingredients and authenticity – it’s like no other on the market. Hands down (well, all hands up really!) it’s the most beautiful cleanser I’ve used so far. The minute it goes on, it takes my skin to another place, like it’s putting goodness and healing properties into the skin.
- I was gifted this product to try and now I would feel like my skin was missing out if I stopped using it. So I would definitely invest in this product and the whole range – my skin loves it.
(Note: update in 2018: I have now bought the entire range and using it daily)
Samaya Ayurveda’s Premium Cleanser Packaging
It looks premium and elegant. I love the length and sleek tubular cardboard (eco) design of the packaging. The height is so similar with what the product does, takes your skin to a higher level of well-being.
The texture of the frosted glass bottle feels smooth and premium, easy to grip and with a logo kind of like a yin/yang symbol or circular wheel of life. It really feels like a premium luxury facial cleanser to indulge your skin in.
