I was kindly gifted the Five Dot Botanics Deep Feed, a Green Coffee and Cacay Nourishing Facial Serum. Like the name suggests, they only use 5 ingredients in their range of beauty products. Yes, just 5 ingredients! Less is more and I certainly discovered that after using this serum.
Nourished, smooth and hydrated skin. That’s what I got got when I started applying it. The youthful magic of this product is a secret I’ve got to let you into.
As I’m a clean beauty advocate (for over a decade I might add! ;)) finding high quality clean products takes a lot of research, and trialing and testing. So I was super fortunate to meet Zaffrin from Five Dot Botanics on a zoom call during lockdown.
Who are Five Dot Botanics?
Five Dot Botanics is a skincare brand based in London who only launched in 2019 and have already gained a cult following with their ‘clean beauty’ ethos and on-point messaging.
Founded by Zaffrin and Brian, Five Dot Botanics are UK based and the products are made in the UK too.
The product range is all about minimal, organic ingredients aimed at “doing more with less” whatever age or gender you are.
This is a big differentiator from the other beauty brands and it’s sustainable and made in the UK.
“’Healthy skin has an irresistible glow and energy, no matter what a person’s age. Minimal skincare is the key to naturally healthy skin.
Benefits of using the serum and how I used it
As I have sensitive skin and allergies, I made sure I did a patch test and left it for 24 hours to be safe. Then I started using a few drops on my face after cleansing.
It glides on – and my skin doesn’t feel dry.
It felt nourishing as I hadn’t been using any oils or serums for a while. A serum is an integral stage of any skincare regime – straight after cleaning and before applying moisturiser.
My skin looked noticeably smooth and had a ‘glow’.
When I use this serum I can use my tinted moisturiser straight after without that added layer of moisturiser on top. Main benefits for me are:
- It’s fragrance free! Huuuuuuge benefit
- Smoother and more vibrant looking skin after using the serum
- Just a couple of drops was plenty so it’s going to last a bit
- Not sure if it’s the coffee but I certainly feel a bit more lifted/ energised
- Natural ingredients, vegan and no water in it just oils and no preservatives added
- Unisex so if you’re in a couple you can share it and the cost – bonus 😉
- Love the sustainable packaging
- Never tested on animals
- Glass can be recycled
- Love the five dots – morse code branding meaning Five
Overall, my skin tone looks dewy, and feels smooth when using the serum.
Also when applying my makeup and any powder bronzer, I do think my skin looks radiant, even if I use a powder bronzer or blusher (I’ve now been using a beautiful organic cream blusher which is far more suitable for my 40’s skin!).
You can use the serum at night but I use this in the day.
There are more products in the range too. To be gifted a product like this to test is the absolute dream – it ticks all the boxes!
Ingredients
- Carthamus tinctorius (Safflower) seed oil

- Caryodendron Orinocense (Cacay) nut oil
- Anthemis nobilis (Chamomile) flower oil
I was just reading some of the reviews on their website and they are all pretty much all 5 stars which shows how amazing this product is. Five Dot Botanics also sell mists, masks, cleansers and more so there’s a whole skincare regime once you get hooked on one product!
Simple but so effective. Here are a couple of their reviews:
I’m a bit of a skincare sceptic and hate the idea of taking ages to apply a million complicated products every night and day. I want simple & effective products. And here they are! The fact it’s all natural ingredients is even better. Three little drips onto clean skin, and it leaves my face feeling really nourished and hydrated without being greasy. I’m a convert!
